Chief Jacob Bearspaw School, part of the Stoney Education Authority (SEA), serves students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in a vibrant and culturally rich community. Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in early childhood education, a deep commitment to student well-being and learning, and the ability to integrate land-based and culturally relevant teaching into daily practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging, and inclusive lesson plans that meet Alberta Education curriculum outcomes.
- Foster early literacy and numeracy skills through play-based, inquiry-driven, and hands-on learning experiences.
- Integrate Stoney Nakoda language, culture, and traditions into classroom activities.
- Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, parents, and community members to support cultural learning.
- Incorporate outdoor and land-based learning opportunities aligned with curriculum objectives.
- Assess student learning using formative and summative tools, including provincial and SEA-approved assessments.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff to promote a supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional growth and school-wide initiatives as outlined in the SEA education plan.
Qualifications - Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
- Specialized training or experience in early childhood education is preferred.
- Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn Stoney Nakoda language and culture .
- Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, student-centered approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse and committed educational team.
- Experience integrating inclusive education strategies and differentiated instruction.
